Ninety percent of Area Agencies on Aging provide transportation services, a critical resource for older adults’ health and social engagement needs. COVID-19 has changed the demand for and management of transportation programs. Using data from the most recent AAA National Survey, this webinar will give a brief overview of AAA involvement in and funding for transportation programs.

During the webinar, staff from USAging and NADTC will provide highlights from the AAA National Survey and an overview of the connection between AAAs and transportation. This webinar will also spotlight two rural AAAs who will share their unique perspectives on the impact that COVID-19 has had on transportation services, new funding opportunities for AAAs under Section 5310 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and promising approaches in rural transportation. Using polls, Q&A, and discussion, participants will share feedback with n4a and NADTC about their TA needs and transportation experiences.

Objectives: Participants in this webinar will learn about how COVID-19 has impacted transportation programs, expanded Section 5310 funding opportunities in the COVID-19 relief bills, and the outlook for transportation services in rural areas.
