(Download the powerpoint used in the video here.)

This free online course is offered by the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center to provide an in-depth look into human services transportation through presentation videos, resource materials, and coursework learning assignments. This course is free, though you will need to register to gain access to the course and a private online LinkedIn forum where to materials will be posted and discussion and information exchange among participants will be encouraged. This course is also self–paced. Participants will need to meet a completion deadline but may watch the provided videos and complete the learning assignments on their own time.

Goals/Objectives:

The goal of the course is to provide participants with a broad overview of current human service transportation approaches and to give participants the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the wants, needs, and challenges of older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers in both finding and using community transportation systems;
  • Identify best practices and successful strategies for providing human services transportation;
  • Discuss how collaboration and partnerships among human services agencies and with transportation agencies can help design successful transportation programs on behalf of older adults and people with disabilities; and
  • Learn how to gather information on their own community’s transportation system, including identification of system strengths and assessing gaps in these services.
