– Presentation by Al Benedict

Mitch LaRosa is the Program Director for Shared Mobility, Inc. Mitch oversees Shared Mobility’s innovative programs such as the launch of new bikesharing programs in underserved communities, research to make shared mobility more inclusive for older adults and people with disabilities, and creating shared transportation options for rural communities. His work with the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center began in 2018 with research on how to increase inclusivity in shared transportation programs. In this webinar, he will highlight the results of that research report and how they are using those findings to inform their work. The full report can be found at the Mobility Development website.

Al Benedict is the Research Manager for the Shared Use Mobility Center (SUMC). Mr. Benedict leads SUMC’s efforts around accessibility issues related to shared mobility and persons with disabilities and equity considerations for providing access in underserved low-income communities. SUMC is a public-interest organization working to foster collaboration in shared mobility (including bikesharing, carsharing, ridesharing and more). Al will give an overview of SUMC’s work with shared mobility and Mobility as a Service and work being done on accessibility.

FTA sponsors the National Aging & Disability Transportation Center to provide technical assistance to promote the availability and accessibility of transportation options for older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers, and communities and the Shared Use Mobility Center to provide technical assistance to foster collaboration in shared mobility (including bikesharing, carsharing, ridesharing and more) and help connect the growing industry with transit agencies, cities and communities across the nation.
